Dr Shameem Farouk

Dr. Shameem is responsible for Maybank Group’s Talent Management and Learning functions. She has over 15 years in the Human Capital area with various cross-functional experiences regionally. Prior to joining Maybank, Dr Shameem was with a regional telecommunications group where she was responsible for group’s high potential talent management and leadership development initiatives. Among her achievements throughout her career included regionalisation of talent programmes, increasing performance & engagement of high potentials to above global high performing standards, institutionalising a development culture among senior management, and facilitating top team alignment and organisational transformation. She has developed leading indicators of organisational performance and people intelligence indicators to support the development of talents across the group. Maybank Group had been recognized as the Best Talent Management practice among leading corporations in Malaysia by HR Excellence for two consecutive years in 2016-2017. Additionally, Maybank was also recognized by HR Excellence as having the best Leadership Development initiative in 2017. Dr. Shameem earned her Doctorate degree in Education, specialising in Human Performance Technology at Indiana University, U.S. She has a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Master’s of Science degree in Education Psychology from Indiana University, U.S. She has published in leading journals and presented at various international conferences on Emotional Intelligence and the Predictors of High Performing Leaders. She is member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Academy of Management in the U.S.
